Now is an excellent time to hike in Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park.

The mustard is in bloom, but it is not as tall as in previous years. Many other plants are also in bloom now. I also saw several mountain bikers enjoying the trail. They zoom by fast on the downhill. Pay attention to the “Live Oak” trail sign, it is a good idea to stay on the “Serrano” trail to stay out of the mountain bikers’ way. That is a slalom course that the bikers often take very fast, and it isn’t a fun walk.
I saw lots of poison oak this year. Steer clear or it will ruin the fun. I like to enter the park from the Glen Ranch and Portola Parkway gate. It is a nice walk after lunch at Wahoos.
