3 Months to Number 1

A Book Review of
3 Months to No. 1, by Will Coombe

The cover says that it is “The No-nonsense SEO Playbook for getting your website found on Google.” That is an accurate description. The book does not have nonsense tricks for getting traffic. We are in an era when search engines have grown sophisticated at weeding out the sites that do not add value to the user. The theme of the book can be stated simply, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” As for the 3 Months to No. 1 title. It is too early for me to judge. I do see increased traffic on the sites where I have begun to use his playbook, but I am only a month into the program. I hope it works. As Will Coombe points out there is tough competition in SEO for most businesses. At least I feel like I am in the game now. Organic search is very different from a paid ad campaign. If you need a quick direct response to your offer, SEO will probably disappoint you. But I am convinced that over the long term, a consistent SEO strategy will yield great results.

The important question that business owners need to answer is how committed are they to a marketing plan? From an insider’s perspective, our products are awesome and that should be apparent to everyone. But do we really believe in our products if we are not willing to give marketing the same commitment of resources that we invest in our products? Will’s book will help you with a marketing plan and give you suggestions on how to manage risk. The videos that come with the text are very well done and provide a hands-on experience. I recommend this book for people who are ready to spend some time investing in organic search. Will’s approach helped me understand that SEO is an art form and it can be rewarding on a similar level as drawing, painting,  and writing.
